I'm setting up my next build (sans video card) but am having trouble deciding btwn a few parts.

As for the GPU, i'm getting an R600 once the midend models come out. I'm trying to keep the price as low as possible, so if I don't need anything I'm keeping it out.
 
1) go with the P5B deluxe mobo, its awesome although not in your choices and it has onboard sound so you really dont need a sound card at all
2)corsair RAM no doubt
3) as for the PSU go with a XClio

But Patriot is a great brand as well-what is the Corsair RAM going to offer that the Patriot won't? I don't OC at all, at least in the beginning I won't. And the Patriot is cheaper.
3) as for the PSU go with a XClio
Never heard of their PSUs, although the ratings seem good for the most part. What makes it better then the two others I posted? Especially against the antec?

well, dropping the sound card keeps the ASUS P5B Deluxe in the budget and you will like it much better than any of your choices. Corsair is the new name today, easily the most reliable and stable and when you OC you wont regret it. What is your GPU, because the Antec is over kill and a waste of cash, you only need like 500 watts of really stable power, which is what an XClio offers, along with its rep, or also this:

I need a sound card w/ line in because I'm plugging my guitar into it. Plus int. sound generally sounds worse. And what does the P5B have that the others dont-aside from a few more package goodies that I don't need-and a worse northbridge then the ones I posted?

I'm not overclocking anything! So why do I need corsair if I won't notice a difference btwn it and the Patriot?

As for the PSU...you really don't know what your talking about do you? Antec is an incredibly reliable brand, and TBH, I'd rather have three 12v rails and 650 watts of power from a well known, tested brand, then some other POC from an unknown brand. My GPU will be an R600-ATI's DX10 line. I'd rather have one more expensive PSU that lasts me a few years then having to go through the hassle of buying a new one when the Xclio fails.

Please stick to what I've posted. Don't introduce anything new. I know what I want and what my budget is, I'm just having trouble deciding.
If you can come up with solid reasons why any of the things you mentioned are better then what I've put I'll gladly look them over, but for now you haven't given me any.

oh sorry i missed that you are getting an R600, in the case i might even go higher to like 700watt, by silverstone of the 700watt OCZ GameXStream

And to stick with your choices, go with the ASUS brand motherboard, (wow i just looked at those specs and they are sweet for the price, blows the deluxe to bits, sorry) you can go quad-core later on the ASUS too and get a great and stable OC on the E6600 and get a very reliable name too

corsair still is better than patriot, ask anyone on this forum, but if you want patriot and spend a little more, go right ahead. I would really think about DDR2-800 though for the R600 and you can get it for only 20 bucks more than that patriot RAM.

Yeah thats why I was looking @ them-quad core enabled.

Although the Patriot is 10$ cheaper-i'll wait for what others say. I know Corsair is considered to be better overall, but in this case 10$ really does make a difference.

EDIT: Will ATI cards still work with the nvidia northbridge ? (650i)

After the rebate though...

1 character is because characters in the quotes don't count and you need at least 1 char. to post.

EDIT: I just took another look @ the int. audio on the P5B you mentioned. Can anyone confirm if it has Line in? It looks like it does, but I'm not 100% sure of what the colors mean.
 
yeah i guess if you get it by the 15th, but DDR2 800 is the best way to go for the best performance, and for your R600

I probably won't get everything @ newegg if prices are cheaper elsewhere, but thats just a list.

Good point.
The only thing I'm not sure of is the mobo. How does it compare to the other two I posted?

Also, I just realized I forgot to factor in Vista Home Premium ($239). I can probably raise about $100-150 for that, but what can I shave off to fit it in? Its ok if I go a bit over ($1500 total)
 
you can shave the CPU to an E6300 because you can OC it to E6600 levels with ease, saves 130 and prices will go down a lot by the time you buy if you wait for mid ranged DX10 which is in like 6 months i am guessing
 
I had decided a while ago to get a 6600. Great reviews, and like I said before, I'm not ocing yet. I might take off the sound card and just use a normal amp for the time being. I might also go down to 1 gig of ram for now and bring it up to 2 later on.
