My norton 05 is coming to an end in exactly 3 days then no more updates. Which should i change to? Take price out of the equation as this is important - i want the best with all the features. Cheers

I Run AVG free edition and have found it to be better than Norton it dosent use as many computer resources as norton and is just as good at protecting from viruses and also removing them. I have been using AVG for a couple of years now and believe it to be the best. Another plus is its free :)

Surely a free AV wont perform as good as a purchased one wallah, which one do u know is the best which isnt free?

Actually james contrary to popular believe just because you pay for something doesn't make it better. I have had both nortons and avg and avg catches the same viruses and i haven't had one since i switched it even uses the same virus definitions as symantec does man...

Neither Avast! nor AVG have a built in firewall but a VERY good firewall is zonealarm.
If I had £100/$200 I would still probably chose avast! antivirus with zonealarm firewall.
Ones you pay for are not neciseraly as good.
I had norton which hogged lots of resources and when it expires, I uninstalled it and installed Avast! and ran a scan and I found out I had an infection.
Thats proof that you dont get what you pay for.

Ok I tried Avast yesterday, it blocked a few things on some sites and wouldnt let us play this motox game we usually play. I uninstalled it, didnt really fancy it. My mate recommended zonealarm as did u guys, iveheard excellent things about it and now here i'am with the free trial of internet security. I think its fantastic and there is a strong chance i will buy it. However like avast, my sites are still not displaying properly, and i cant even view the hotmail inbox page. I have tried everything and am quite worried as i would really liketo buy ZA, a few links on a few sites i go on our missing, like they have been mistaken for an ad or something. ANyone have NA internet security and can help? Thanks i almost forgot, i cant even view images on google images!!

I have tested pretty much all of them on a very lethal website, and to be honest with you the only one that actually did the job was Avast! A lot of people taut AVG, but to be honest with you it is a rather useless program. What I find with AVG is that it doesn't deal with the threat until it is already on your computer. On this webpage, AVG let every single threat pass right through. Avast! shut the webpage down so it wouldn't even load. Avast! prevents the threat from ever entering the computer, on more fronts than AVG. AVG just simply doesn't hold a candle to it.

As for paid ones, the only one that is really any good that will fit your needs is Panda Platinum. That's the reason why Panda is the only one I will sell. It has advanced heuristics to make detections that Norton simply turns a blind eye to.
