what would be better a OCZ PC4000 EB DDR Platinum Edition Dual Channel 2GB Rev 2 2x512 or OCZ PC3200 EB DDR Platinum Edition Dual Channel 2GB Rev 2 on a athlon 64 3800 system would the pc 4000 be better as you wont need to change the fsb to ram ration when overclocking ect

define a bit... id say pc3200 at 2 cas latency is better than pc4000 3 cas latency... my opinion though it depends on what youre doing... i prefer a faster cas latency

with a cas latency difference of 1, I personally would go for the faster, worse latency ram, but it's a personal choice. OCZ Platinum is excellent ram regardless so I don't think you'll be disappointed either way

uhh actually... 2/3 the cas latency is 1.5times the speed in latency... an increase that is about as big as a jump from ddr400 TO ddr533. plus, with hypertransports frequencies (1ghz) running in two channels 2ghz effectively who needs more frequency. (oh right, intel users.)

sisoft sandra professional reports that an opteron with pc2100 cas latency 2.5 non dual channel reports back just as fast as a pentium 4 pc2100 cas latency 2 WITH dual channel.

ill get back to you once i test my Corsair XMS in a motherboard that supports dual channel... with 939 1ghz hypertransport.
