well my friends birthday is comming up pretty soon (november 21st). I want to get him something nice for his computer. He thinks he is "all that" because he has a E2140 and a 7300gt =P. Thing is, he can only run CoD4 on low/medium settings.

Here are the choices:

KFA2 Galaxy 9500gt: (8600gt, with a generic name :P) $59.99

XFX 8600gt (recertified): havent had any problems with recertified/refurbished items from TG. $49.99

XFX XXX 8600gt: (recertified): $59.99

:Dthanks:D

hahaha the e2140 is a bit to slow for me =P I have the e5200. But, anyways yeah... its for my friend and he says he might be upgrading to an e2180.

out of the cards that you said, I'd say the 8600gt. but if possible, you should go for the 9600gt

The card is very low profile and non-intrusive. The fan and heatsink are conservative and efficient. It's powerful enough to run Team Fortress 2 and Call of Duty 4 vsync locked at 60 FPS and max settings at 1024x768, and should the application demand it, I'm sure higher resolutions are smooth as well.

A review from someone who purchased it ^^^

I'd vote for the Asus 9600 GSO-it's an awesome card that is Very overclockable-great price right now too-and runs very cool-and very quiet.

Get the 8600GT but from www.newegg.com, they have the 8600GT for 45. maybe even less now. Or better yet, (do not askk me how), get the GTS for 40. 10 bucks cheaper than yours, AND better.(after rebate)
