which computer would be best for me?

Hey guys as my name says, I am clueless when it comes to computers, I was curious what kind of desktop computer would you think fits my needs the best. I will be using it for normal everyday stuff, but I am also a musician and record things onto my computer. The are saved to wav files? i think, I have heard they take up alot of room. If you could give me some guidance as to what kind of thing I should be looking for I would greatly appreciate it. My guess is that I will need atleast 1-2 GB but I dont know much more than that.

umm are u talking about ram??
becuase 1 gb will be enough for ram
for a hard drive, i suggest going with a 160 GB hard drive, that way you can store all your files on there no problem

dell (www.dell.com) has a lot of great deals right now....
 
if you are recording and editing music, and ESPECIALLY if you are going to run windows vista, i would recommend at least 2GB of RAM(memory). any newer dual core processor will suffice (the intel core2duos are the best imo), and you will want a big harddrive. exactly how big is up to you, but i also record my own music, and a 5 minute song usually takes up about 10mb. 100songs in a gigabyte, you do the math. if you arent going to play games or edit videos, you dont need a fancy graphics card, but i would stay away from integrated (no seperate graphics card) if only for the simple reason that it will slow down your processor and memory
 
You should get a large HDD, a mainstream video card(ie:8500GT), and a decent sound card. I would also recommend a program like Audacity and use that to convert .wav files to .mp3. I am sure you use more complicated programs to edit audio, just use Audacity for that, it is the quickest one I have found for that.
