Im not 100% it is the scythe, however it looks damn close to it.

(i dont know because i bought the pc used.)

s0 2 questions. Is my current cpu cooler the scythe (in the pic) or not.

If it is which is better the scythe or the freezer 13 iv just bought?

I'd say the Freezer 13 would probably be better than the Scythe. I have the Freezer 13 and considering it was only 20 quid it's a great cooler. Cools my 2500K very nicely even though I've mounted mine the wrong way up (but that's because it can't clear full height RAM DIMMs).

yeah the freezer would be better than the scythe. if the scythe was a mugen 2 or mugen 3 then the freezer wouldn't be better.

Don't most CPUs come with Thermal Paste?
Sure they do, they also come with coolers. The OP is looking to improve his cooling, most likely for overclocking. The stock coolers and paste are fine if not OCing but don't quite cut the mustard when pushing the clock.

Yeh the pre applied thermal compoun on my artic cooler 13 is ok for 3.0ghz but i cant get more out of it. So i need to get some as5.

Even when not OCing, AS5 helps keep temps down a lot better than the crap that comes with the coolers.

I've never owned either cooler, but I have heard wonderful reviews on all Freezer heatsinks.

Apparently its mx-2 that comes on the cooler 13. Either way i will be putting some as5 on it soon :P Try and get some more mhz out of it,
