I need to replace my notebook hard drive (Toshiba MK-6021GAS, 60Gb 4200rpm) which has failed and does not function anymore. Brought my Gericom notebook 3.06ghz ,P4, 60GB hard drive, 512MB Ram more than a year ago and dam hard drive didnt even last long enough.

Anyways I am thinking of buying a hard drive 60GB With speed of 7200rpm. Theres 2 that come to mind but dont know each one to go for:

Can someone advise me which one I should chose and why

the second one transfers internally a little quicker and is more quiet, but I'm sure you see that already from the stats. The difference in speed isn't all that big of a deal in my opijnion, but if noise is a big issue, then take that into account. I personally would say it's basically a toss-up between the two and would let price be the deciding factor. If #2 is significantly more expensive than #1 I would say go for #1 as the differences are small

Number two is the obvious choice, but as mentioned, price would be the determinant. The differences arent too significant to justify spending a large amound more on choice two.

If it were up to me, I would go with the cheapest one. I know that I personally wouldnt notice a 125MBps internal speed transfer difference with the second one. Although, I take noise into consideration a lot also, so it really just depends.

See, the noise is what kills me on that first one, I like my computers to as quiet as possible (other than speakers obviously). Some people dont mind them being loud, but if there's a loud buzzing or something, it bugs the heck out of me.
