which file is no use and can be deleted?

What do you mean? You need to be more specific, because no one here will be able to help you otherwise. Tell us what you want to delete and why and then we might be able to tell you if it would be ok.

A-ha!

I just knew you were going to say that. LOL First of all, how big is your hard drive? Are the C, D, and E drives all on that one hard drive?

I highly recommend a program which shows you how much space your various folders are using up. It can show you how long it has been since you have modified any of them, it can also break it down in different views in case you prefer looking at it differently etc. From a pie-chart view, you can just click on it to see more in depth within a folder etc. etc..
Very easy to use and it is free. It's called J-Disk Report and you can download it here. You do need java installed to use it. If you need java, the link above shows you how to get it.

Anyway, that will give you an idea as to what files are your big space eaters. There are really only two things that come to mind that would really make a noticeable difference in terms of making more space on the C drive.
First of all, I assume that:
  1. all your programs are installed in the C drive?
  2. and maybe folders such as "My documents", "my pictures", "my music", "my videos" etc... are also on the C drive?
In that case,
  • then uninstall games, large Programs or programs that you don't really use.
  • empty your trashcan in case it is really really full.
  • Go through your folders to see which ones are taking up a lot of space and that you perhaps no longer need.
Other than that, I don't see what you could erase that would make a big difference. Have you considered getting a second hard drive? That would be my recommendation, because it's just a matter of time until you'll see that hard drive fill up again.

Now go download J-Disk Reporter and hunt down those hard drive space hoggers. I hope this helped. :)

Make sure that you delete NOTHING from the windows folder, the things that you can delete include stuff such as my documents stuff, and if you know what you're deleting you can also delete some of the program files, as they take up a great deal of space. But only if you know what you're deleting

Ooh good point.

Yes, leeroyMarv is right.
When I wrote "delete folders" I only meant folders that YOU created - for example inside the My Documents, my pictures folders etc...
I did NOT mean any other folders directly in the C drive - and especially not the windows folder.

And if you uninstall programs, make sure you do it through the add/remove programs utility in the Control panel and not by deleting their folders in the C drive.

If you have a lot of videos/movies or games - those can really take up a ton of space.

thanks for clarifying leeroyMarv.
