Which for dual sli at x16

I'd say it depends on your budget, how large the case will be and how many hard drives you want to use (without getting a RAID card).

Both motherboards should fit just fine. I have the GA-X58A-UD3R, but I haven't assembled my new rig yet as I am waiting for more parts. So I couldn't recommend it on the basis of personal experience just yet, but it has gotten good reviews. Both motherboards have gotten good reviews, so check out some reviews and see if they mention things that are important to you. Make sure the Gigabyte reviews are of the GA-X58A-UD3R and not the GA-EX58A-UD3R.

Here are some reviews I found.

The Asus Gene is micro-ATX which will fit in almost any case, from a micro-ATX case to a standard ATX case. However, because it's smaller, you won't have many ports left over for peripherals which is why ATX boards like the Gigabyte are recommended for multi-card setups.

BTW, no need to set up a new thread... we were going to/have already answered your question.
