Which Graphics Card To Buy

Hello, my old nVidia 8600 GTS graphics card that came with my Dell Vostro, died a couple of weeks ago

I don't really know what to replace it with...

At the moment my computer is running of a chipset built into the motherboard ( i presume )

I was just wondering if you guys could help me out... I'll use it for a bit of light gaming, but nothing hardcore

And my budget is From £50-75

Any Ideas? Thanks! Tell me if you need any more info

Anything of the or 200 series, such as Geforce 540, 440, 250 or 240. Should cover it if you were using an 8600 card. I can't give you the price in British pounds, but they're pretty cheap.

First question- What power supply do you have? If it's a stock dell, do yourself a favor and go for an upgrade before everything fries ;)

Then, go for something like a 9800gt or gts250.

You can do that, just uninstall the old driver before you put the new card in.
 
I have a 250 GTS, its not for "light gaming" but it certainly not an insane card, but its GREAT for the price.

Uninstall never works, there's still remnants left. Even driver sweeper doesn't really work.

I'm not saying that evertime you'll have issues, but sometimes it happens. It's just easier and safer to stick with the same. Not to mention, ATI has been having all kinds of driver issues sonce again ince the 11.x drivers were released.

Driver sweeper has worked great for me, all kinds of uninstallers sucked, its the only one that worked for me. But certainly agree on the ATI stuff, would love to try one of their cards but the whole driver issue keeps me away.
 
Everytime I've tried driver sweeper it says that it's all gone and I restart.....run driver sweeper again and the same drivers come up in the box like they were not erased.
