Which is a better mother board

the 939, but I would use a Gigabyte-Asus or a DFI board, never had any luck with MSI motherboards. And if you dont already have a processor and want to go AMD I would go with AM2 instead of 939

It depends on what CPU is being used in both, but it seems like the MSI would be the best performing one.

Here's the rule of thumb.

MSI can't make a motherboard or VGA to save their lives. If they were the last PC company on earth I would be forced to buy a Mac. So avoid them. If you can't afford anything decent, you shouldn't be building a computer.

Abit.. They are better quality for sure, but very fussy on how they allocate their resources. Configuring them can be a complete pain in the ass, but even if they are, once you get it right they are very reliable.

Thats your personal opinion, I as well as others here had/have MSI motherboard which work fine. MSI is a far more superior brand then ASRock or ECS are.

I threw in an AMD Sempron 64bit 1.8 processor andloaded xp 64bit edition. over clocked it to 2.2 and it's very stable.
The thing is that my son has the ABIT but I'm not sure if I should swap out the boards and give him the MSI.
I dont want to make a mistake, i want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

Yeah.. Give him the MSI!! Definitely.. Or better yet, throw it in the garbage and both of you get new Abit boards.

Ask me how much I care. Come on. I dare you. Ask me.

How many have you sold? Are you or were you an MSI, ECS or ASRock dealer? Do you even know who makes them? Not that it matters. A quick run to Google and you'll find out, I'm sure.

If you're a dealer, how many RMAs have you dealt with? How many lost bench hours have you suffered because of them? How much downtime have you experienced with them. Who's your supplier? Oh yeah. Newegg. I forgot. What's your sample size? Four?

I've purchased and sold tons of MSI boards. And lost tons of them. I've lost more money on MSI and ASRock boards in materials, labour, shipping and downtime than you've probably spent on computers in your entire life. Let me see. Asrock. MSI. Asus. Abit. DFI. PCChips. Soyo. ECS. Gigabyte. To name a few. Soyo, albeit not a good performer, has actually proven to me to be more reliable and dependable than MSI. That says something. To date I've lost less than half a dozen Soyo boards out of more than 100.

So don't sit there and preach to me about the one or two you've had experiences with. Ok bro? Cool. Thank you. To be truthful you lost all credibility with me when you started a useless thread trying to "prove" how superior RAID 0 was with an artificial benchmark, as opposed to real world tests, when every single credible review on the internet destroys that theory very handily using reputable and verifiable methods of testing.

I would not use the words more superior, mabe (better than) ASrock and PChips, builing computers and having to RMA 4 out of 10 gets old and cost money, I would not use any 3 of them!

I totally agree with StrangleHold's recommendations.

As far as a face plate, just run without it. You will have a lot of trouble finding a replacement.
