Which is better?

Hi guys,

WHich is better?

Intel® Core™2 Duo Desktop Processor E8500

Or

Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9400

I what to use this for gaming, my friend says the e8500 would be better for gaming then the quad.

the e8500 would be better for gaming, but negligibly so.
if you can afford the q9400 though, i'd suggest the Phenom II 940.
it's faster, cooler, cheaper, and the rig to set it up will be cheaper (motherboard, ram, etc).
if you don't think you need a quad core, you can get the triple core Phenom II 720 for now, which is an amazing chip, for $135. it'll rock shit out in games, and let you multitask further than dual core, and an average overclock on it is 3.6ghz on all 3 cores.
 
Well i can only choose from intel products i dont know why

Well i'll stick to e8500 then since its for gaming indeed

i would get intel rather than amd....
i dont know why but thats how i think :P unless u guys wanna change the way i think about them lol

I dont really know much about AMD, but think about it like this...whatever is better value for money, go with it, set yourself a price range then look at whatever Intel and AMD processors fall into it. Do a bit of research, read reviews etc. I find getting on newegg and looking at customers reviews are good cos its coming from the user and they would have no reason to lie about it.
