Which is better?

i currently have 2 gigs of DDR2 400 in my machine. (2 x 1gig)

i have 4 gigs of DDR2 800 arriving sometime this week. (2 x 2gig)

i was told that it was possible to use different speeds of RAM, however windows will only run them as fast as the slowest RAM.

My question is whether 6 gigs of DDR2 400 or 4 gigs of DDR2 800 would be better?

the purpose of my upgrade is to improve my gaming.

For most gaming, 4GB is plenty, so you would likely see the best results with 4GB of high performance RAM rather than more lower performance RAM.
