Unity is A LOT more versatile, and you'll definitely have an edge if you get good at it. I also like it that you can customize using C# and JS.

I started making a few, but my current job (computer shop owner) drowned that out pretty quick.

It's pretty straight forward and there's tons of tutorials. Check it out.

Well i downloaded both of them...and fooled around with unity a bit and played some of the premade games and its ****ing awesome!!! Im gonna prob play around with game maker later and see what happens...i didnt know hotline miami was made with game maker,...thats kinda cool

If you're a 100% novice for creating games, I'd probably go for game maker first. I think it's a little easier to get accustomed to, especially if you don't have any coding experience.

Best of luck though!

thank you...i used to do very light programming, but its been years since i attempted anything...i need to probably watcha couple tuturials and read up a bit to get myself caught up...i mean last language i used was c#++....do they even use that any more?

Well i also downloaded these books to get me started HTML5 Game Development with GameMaker, The GameMaker's Apprentice, The GameMaker's Companion....still looking for like unity for dummies or something like that to download...well i found this so far which seems alright to get me introduced: Beginning 3D Game Development with Unity 4, 2nd Edition

There's tons of tutorials out there for both (some free) and check out YouTube as well for a visual.
