Which is better?

The E6600 and DS3 would be the best choice, and would be a much better performer. The DS3 and E6600 are also known for great overclocking, where most people can hit 3.0-3.4Ghz or higher.

let's say i dont wanna overclock (cuz ive never done it before and building computers is a new thing to me so i just want the better of the two w/o worrying about o/c) does the intel beat the amd is any other more immediate way cuz the amd seems cheaper right now....i guess wht im trying to ask is...is the intel faster right now? n like will the intel or amd last me say 3-5 years? thanks sooooooo much

I'm wondering...

which one would be more of a multi-tasker and better for a graphics designer tho?? like someone running photoshop/flash 8/dreamweaver/ all at the same time???

I prefer the Intel Core 2 Duo right now, and I don't think you can go wrong with the top choice (Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz, 1066 FSB & 4MB cache plus supporting mobo) compared with the AMD. Most performance reviews I've seen really rank the core 2 duos up there in performance (for their cost).

An entry level Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz with 2MB cache still performs very well. I can only image the 2.4GHz with 4MB cache is extra impressive backed powerful video cards and ram to avoid any bottlenecks elsewhere.
