I want to buy a cheap comp, and want your opinion on which one is better.
thanks. Both are around $300 dollars

NEITHER.
1. The Xeon system is crap. Why? Xeons are designed for server environments and as such, their performance is not individual and and they are designed to operate as SMP configs. Managing 64bit PCI cards (if you have any) isnt the easiest task in the world either

2. The HP system is a much more realistic system for normal users. If you had to buy one or the other, get the HP

It should be noted that for $300 you could prolly outdo the HP system if you shopped around :)
 
And to add to what Praetor had to say, If you have the time you might want to consider building a desktop computer to suit your needs more clearly and save a portion of dollar bills ;) .
 
thanks for your reply. Yes i've done alot of looking online, and thats the best option i could find. Some sites advertise a good product but in the end they only tell you its out of stock, what they call switch & bait.

Doesnt really matter all that much, Newegg is a fairly popular reccomendation ... if you're building a comp urself (which is what i alluded to in my first post), youll be saving tons regardless :)

Hey now!


You have a point when talking about home computers and the xeon processor.... but the reason for the xeon processor IS for servers. My HP has 2 of them bad boys and (after the time consuming setup) it runs great.

2. The Xeons arent THAT great until you really start rackin in the numbers :)
 
I just giving you a hard time Praetor ...and not doing a very good job of it..
