all modern first person shooter games uses WSAD as a default
so you have everything else beside it, so you just need one hand on the keyboard
and the other on the mouse !

I believe thats correct.

I use the arrow keys for racing games, and WSAD for everything else.
 
WASD sux, that's just my opinion, I tried WASD but didn't like it, I'm not that good in CS:S therefor I use arrows and love it and it's mostly becouse there are plenty of keys in the reach of my fingers that I can press without a mistake, keys next to WASD confuse me couse I sometimes press the wrong button and it gets really annoying. Arrows rule full stop

Thats what i used to think, but after using WSAD for a while, it became easier and more natural. Not to mention it's alot easier to reach the ALT, SHIFT, and SPACE BAR keys when your using WSAD, and you also have a wide variety of other characters for misc. features.
 
i agree with omega, i did use the arrow keys on most games until i got americas army, which only used wsad, so i used them and now i always use them, it is also easier to reach space bar and shift and things.
 
Arrow keys are so uncomfortable!

A friend of mine who used to use arrow keys only for UT switched to WASD for CS:S. It's funny because instead of positioning his fingers as they usually would be for typing, he uses his middle finger for W, his index finger for D, and his ring finger for A. (Just like the arrow keys! :P )

I use ring, middle and index finger as well, it helps to have the pinky finger available for shift, tab, ctrl, and some other commands that you'd need in that area...
 
it used to be arrow keys, but when i started to paly more frequently i noticed i got cramp in my left hand because it kept having to reach to places, so i switched to WASD, wierd at first because it just wasnt right, but after a few weeks i got the hang of it. And yes its WASD, not WSAD.... i dont see no wiki for freakin WSAD, do you - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WASD

It seems this is actually a common way to use WASD. Am I the only one that uses my ring finger for W and so forth?

This is my CS:S key config, it's set perfectly, everything is reached in a matter of miliseconds, that proves the doubt of other players that I cheat. lol, I don't and I hate being called a hax0r.

I might give something like that a try one day, because my Push-to-talk key sucks! I use F, and it's really inconvenient, especially when I'm trying to crouch with C!

It just feels so... weird! :eek:
