Suse & Ubuntu![]()
I have tried ubuntu once but I couldnt figure it out how to install VLC, or other programs. so I uninstalled it. I think you have to know some code to install programs on linux.
why are there so many linux versions out there? everyone of them does a specific thing?

sudo apt-get vlc
Ubuntu's is easy, you have graphical menus and you put a check by the ones you want.package managers can be a huge pain in the ass when it comes to linux. Typically you can download the .deb file and install it, or use APT your terminal based package manager
example of apt
Code:sudo apt-get vlc
I voted for Ubuntu, though I really use Kubuntu.
I like the apt-get method of installing software (beats windows), and I prefer KDE over Gnome. My 2nd choice would have been a hard-drive install of Knoppix, which is very similar.
How is Suse? I will probably try it soon. (I have an extensive collection, so I am backed up)
(You could have chosen both in the poll.)
but i was thinking of going over to PCLinux.
its realy good,I like it the best out of all the Linux distros ive tried
If i was to switch to Linux for good thn it would be Suse![]()
