Which motherbaord is the best?

Hey guys,

I'm helping a friend to build a system. see thread here

I was wondering what would you guys would choose to go along a Q6600 (and why):

- ASUS P5N-E SLi NV650i
- GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L Core 2 Quad
- MSI P6N SLI-FI NF650i SLi

Or an AMD X2 6000+ should we decide to go with that:

- ASUS M2N-E Socket AM2 NF570 ULTRA
- Anything else good?

That will depend on the type of build. The thread seen there is for a gaming system where most will automatically point at the Intel model.

Presently I run the 6000+ X2 on that AM2 model board and still see favorable results in gaming as well as multitasking which was the intent for the new build here. Even with a new DX10 compatible ATI mid range model video card games like Fear, Prey, HL2, EP1, and some run well at high settings with both XP and Vista once the better drivers were released.
 
Hmmm. What about this (Select the different benchmarks too). The Q6600 Beats the AM2 6000+ in every test. Does anybody have any other information/reviews or charts comparing these CPUs?

Oh ya? I'll keep that in mind. What did you like about it? Good looks? Stable? Not ram picky?

EDIT: Oh wait did you say you CANT say you like it?

I would go with the P35-DS3L simply because it will support the future Intel 45nm CPU's, and it's supposed to be good for overclocking.
 
The problem with those benchmarks is there was no information on anything other then Vista and one game mentioned. What video card, board, memory combinations are those going by there? The WEI-Windows Experience Indexing feature now seen in Vista grades the hardwares effecting gaming performance there.

Ok, how about this? Most, err all people who replied to that thread said the Q6600 would be better by a long shot.

The thing you are missing is that the 6000 X2 is a dual core model being compared to a quad core. Those are two different types of cpus. The real quiz will be seen when AMD finally comes out with their own to see if they will regain the stance they had previously.
 
AMD's quick take on Intel's quad core models was the dual cpu FX-74 configuration putting two dual core models together on one board. That is how they tried to keep up with Intel's own progress made with the Core 2 Duos, extremes, and later quad core models as far as slacking off in the gaming arena.

AMD held a good lead over Intel for the longest time as many already know. The older models by AMD performed more work in one clock cycle while Intel was paying more attention to clock speeds. That's where they slumped and AMD held the edge!

Yah i dont like it at all. For one the northbridge heatsink is not secure at all, it wobbles if you touch it, but the reason i wouldnt buy it is because i found that over clocking with the board is confusing, bad and didnt give any stable results. (E6420 and corsair dominator ram)

Id go with a gigabyte P35 DS3
