Which Motherboards Support the Athlon 7750 without a BIOS Flash?

I am looking for motherboard models that support the AMD Athlon 7750 Black Edition processor without having to flash the BIOS.

I was wanting the brand to be Gigabyte or ASUS. Anyone know of a motherboard model that will do this?

Be hard to say. My board just got the update about 2 weeks ago. As new as the processor, the board would have to had been produced in the last few weeks to have a bios that updated. Chances are a AM2+ board would boot with it. Hard to tell.

Since some time has passed since my original post, I repeat the former question.

Your processor that you have is a AM2. Why not just get the board you want, if it doesnt boot with the 7750 just pop the 4600 in, update the bios and be done with it.

Flashing a BIOS is potentially hazardous to a motherboard isn't it? You can ruin a motherboard flashing a BIOS if you do something wrong. I have also heard too many stories of people bending up their processor pins when the pull the heatsink off the central processing unit.

Yeah, any of that can happen, but you can get run over by a car in your front yard too. Done both hunderds of times and not screwed one up yet. Not saying it cant happen but as long as you do it right you should be fine. I've had 3 different processors on this board and flashed the bios 4 times.

I was going to say the same thing.

the only reason you hear all these horror stories is because the world is a much smaller place now.

If someone is so heavy handed that they can't realise when they are forcing/bending a computer componant, then they don't have much of a chance do they?

As long as you take the proper precautions you "should be fine" but this is the one thing you will have to do yourself as we can't VIRTUALLY disconnect your CPU from here.

We all know that. Newegg and places buy boards in volume so the chance of getting one with the lastest bios is up in the air.

My BIOS version is an F1. Not the one that is required to support an Athlon 7750 processor.

The Phenom 8750 Tri-Core or the Phenom 9750 95 Watt Quad-Core are the processors I am looking at upgrading to in the future (probably around 2012 or sooner once AMD is going to discontinue making them).

I apologize for not being more clear. The reason I am asking for information is so I have the needed information to build another system.

The input has been great so far. Thanks for the information.

I,ve heard that the 8750BE production is stopping in July this year, the other X3s before that and most of the Phenom I X4s too. Being replaced by the AM3 X3 and X4. In other words, by July this year the 7750BE- 8750BE- 9950BE will be the only Phenom I left, the others being discontinued before that.

well. my bios required an upgrade, on my MSI K9A2 Platinum.
it's easy, and you can do it pretty much within windows if you're going the MSI route (through a USB stick, but an app will configure it all for you, you restart, boot to USB, tada)
Anyway. the cpu is new, so i'm assuming boards made prior to Q3 2008 will need a bios update. If it's made within a few months here, probably not, but most boards you buy are made quite ahead of time.

Wow, guess I better start saving my money for a Phenom 8650 or 8750 processor.

When you upgrade a processor do you have to reinstall your operating system?
