P:S I believe this is a good price for either build based upon the price per hardware on newegg. IF you believe I can build this myself for less $$ please let me know. Keep in mind I have never built a computer. I'm pretty savvy and believe I could do it if someone could direct me when doing so. Thanks!

The first one, however if you want to game I would sell the 8600GTS (its only worth about £50) and buy an 8800 either 8800 GT or 8800 GTS imo.

I hear mixed info on AMD...why is it crappy in your opinion? I heard overclocking is great on the AMD.

Thanks for the help!

AMD is perhaps a great overclocker... And Intel might get less higher percentage overclocking results but still a maximum overclock on an Intel will beat a maximum overclock on AMD's.

For example, the AMD 6400+ runs standard at 3.2Ghz and the Intel E6750 standard runs at 2.67Ghz. And both seem to be beating eachother in half of the tests. But the 6400+ runs far hotter then the E6750 and if you overclock both of them you'll get better (performance, perhaps not clock) results with the E6750.

The same goes for Phenom 9500 vs Q6600. Q6600 is better standard clocked as well as OC'd because as far as I know that 9500 won't do near 3.8Ghz...

I Agree as of right now Intel has the heads up for performance, especially for gaming. The AMD may have higher clock speed but the Intel will out perform at lower clock speeds due to faster FSB, faster clock speed, etc. The new intel chips are just superior as far as engineering goes, nuff said.

You may hearing mixed messages because AMD used to be the best, but now Intel has pulled ahead. See it's not really whether Intel or AMD is the absolute best, we look for which company offer the best performance for the price. A few years ago, AMD had the better deal, but now Intel is better.

Thanks for the help. I talked to the guy building these computers and he was a straight up good guy! He said I should go with the Intel as well. I found out the desktop that had the intel was already sold so he is going to build another one to my specs. I wonder if he really makes anything off these because he charges me what it cost for parts on newegg. Good guy!

Phenom owns.

I have no idea where the bad info on this processor comes from.

The only problem it has the average desktop user will NEVER see.

I just finished building one with the Phenom is great.

intel, totally, no questions. except video card. i agree, if you could swap it with thew amd build, do so.
