I am currently stuck on which card to get, I can't afford a 5850 so it is down to one of these three.

Asus 4890.

MSI GTX 260 Core 216.

EVGA GTX 260 Core 216.-Mostly because of the warranty....

I like ATI but the price of the GTX 260 is nice and according to the review below the MSI GTX 260 is pretty much just as fast as a 4890.

I do have CrossFire board but most likely would not get another 4890
anyway so that's a pro and a confor the 4890.

What I'm kinda leaning towards is getting the MSI GTX 260 and a good case now and then wait six months or so and get a ATI 5850-5870 when the prices come way down.

Anyway give some input before I flip a coin.:)

Thanks a bunch,
Mike.

The 4890 is by far the best. The GTX 260 is no where near the 4890 the GTX 275 is more along the lines of a 4890 but still not quite as good. If I had to put a number on it I would say the 4890 is about 25% better then the GTX 260. You would be crazy to pick the GTX 260 over the 4890 especially when their so close in price. There is no need for that ASUS 4890 get this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150359&cm_re=4890-_-14-150-359-_-Product. It is going to be just as good and if you get the right case it is going to be cooled just as good as that ASUS one.

Thanks for the info.

I like the XFX but I don't wanna chance getting a bad and having to mess with shipping it back and such since newegg still seems to still be shipping out bad ones.

Has anyone heard any thing good about this Sapphire card?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m_re=SAPPHIRE_ATI_4890-_-14-102-852-_-Product

I don't want to mess with the Vapor-X series unless Sapphire has fixed the cold boot problems.

I know that the 4890 will beat the GTX 260 core 216 but I'm not sure its worth another $40.

Other then the Overclockersclub review are there any review that compare a overclocked GTX 260 core 216 and a 4890?

Thanks,
Mike.

sapphire is a reputable brand, either that one or the one fatback suggested will do. but definitely get the 4890 over the GTX 260 though. it's considerably better, the 4870 is even better than the GTX 260. IMO it's worth the extra money.

Like said above the GTX 260 is not even as good as a 4870. Either get a 4870 or 4890 or get a GTX 280/285 or 5870 if you won't something better then the 4890. I don't know what your talking about the XFX 4890's having problems I just ordered two of them last week and put them in a costumers computer. Both of them where fine and neither one showed any signs of trouble. Besides XFX has a double lifetime warranty. If anything happens that that card while you are alive you can get a new one.

Well I went ahead and order the Asus over the XFX.

Fatback, the issues that I am hearing about with the XFX cards is that they changed the PCB and some cards don't perform like thery should and get low frame rates in game and score low in 3dmark06, and since I have had a run of bad luck with online orders I didn't want to risk getting a bad one.

Mike.

That is the first time I have heard about that. The two I got where fine they scored something like a 27000 in 3dmark06. Which is about average of crossfire 4890's.

Oh well good luck with the card hope it works out for ya.
