Which one?

Im going to be buying a new MoBo here in a day or two, do to the P.O.S EVGA that's in my sig now.

So...I need some advice on which one I should choose, the ASUS Maximus V Formula, or Gigabyte G1 Sniper 3?

Sniper 3 all the way. Reason why: Better design (subjective), more expansion variety (PCI vs none. Not really a big deal unless you want variety in sound card should you want a sound card), And arguably a more reliable brand.
also pretty sure the sniper has higher phase count (better overclock potential), but not 100% on that.

Question; Why is there a 8+4 pin power on the Asus and just an 8 pin power plug-in on the Gigabyte? It's the plug-ins on the top left of each MoBo.

When I got my EVGA Z68 it came with a 8+4 pin. The manual said use the extra 4 pin power for an extra boost in OCing potential. But i'm not to sure. Does that extra plug-in have any advantages over one that's just an 8 pin plug?

The extra EPS4 only really helps for extreme overclocking. If you are running anything less than a TEC for cooling, then you don't really need it.
