The hp is better, but it's heavier so take that into consideration, if weight isn't a problem then go for the hp

The Sony is the FZ series and the HP is the 9500t.

BUY THE HP!!! i have the same computer and i love it!!!! (buy the upgraded battery, its well worth it.) my brother has had an awful time with his sony when it came to reinstalling drivers and stuff. hp has a pretty good support/download page. also, i would go for the AMD DV9500Z version, and get the 2.0 dual core. vista can bring a computer to its knees. (dual booting isnt a bad idea)
