I was looking at the dell xps m1710 and its a great system if your willing to spend over 3 grand. im basically looking for something to replace my desktop, but if i go to www.cyberpowerpc.com i can customize a laptop for alot less than dell and the stuff is maybe even better. Ive never bought a customized laptop so im not sure if its a good idea to trust it. any advice?

Well, Welcome to Computer Forum!!!
First we need to know what types of things you are looking to do on your new laptop. Are you a serious gamer? If you are, I looked through most of the notebooks from cyberpowerpc and didn't really see any real powerhouse machines.
The 8600gt-m is a decent dx-10 card for laptops, but certainly doesn't pack the punch of sli'd 7900/7950gtx mobile gpu's, but those also aren't dx10 either.
Also, if your looking to be mobile, you really are going to have to be by a power outlet for the most part. Big power in a notebook usually tends to be short battery life.
