Here is the thing,

I have never believed on those services. In fact, I get paranoic thinking all my stuff would be in a external computer. However, since recent events I am thinking to start using one of those services.

A friend's laptop was stolen, now she's crying like crazy because she lose all their photos. I don't want that happen to me.

Any recommendation?

Get an external hard drive, back up all your files to that. I highly recommend you do NOT use an online storage service. External hard drives are the best way go, because you can hook them up to just about any computer, anywhere, and access your files, without them being available to others to steal and whatever else. Plus if you use an online storage service, if their service goes down for what ever reason, you files are all gone. Hope this was helpful.

I'm talking about a personal service, not shared like rapidshare. Besides I would like it to be paid. Your suggestion is good but what I don't want is to rely on any device I should keep myself.

An external drive can be stolen too.

I like dropbox. the only downfall is 2GB free then the rest has to be paid for. I have used the google drive before. It seems fine. One that i am looking at right now is Mega (formally known as megaupload). Brand new, and i have been reading up on the incription coding, very intense. 50GB storage.

As CrazyMike, I also use dropbox and google drive. I use drive for quick uploads when I'm not on my computer, because it's linked to my google account, and therefore, quick to access.

I install dropbox on all of my machines to easily share files between them. It can also be accessed from the web, though.

Both give you free space, dropbox with 2GB and google drive with 5GB. Both can be upgraded for a fee.

If you are looking for an automatic cloud backup, then there is a service called Carbonite that does just that.
