That's actualy kinda hard to say . but I'd say for the home user that windows xp is prob. better and being the latest OS from microsoft you know it's fully supported with just about everything under the sun .. Windows 2000 on the other hand has been out longer then XP and was primarily meant to be used in a buisness type enviroment.

Isn't the windows 2000 based on NTFS system which later creates problems same as in XP.like DOS based prog not running properly.Suggest me one also....other than 2000....

I want an answer cause i am facing some problems in xp, and for example i like to try the sub7 trojan, but i cant open trojan programs on xp, but i can in safe mode(could it be because of the NTFS format?). So i am thinking that 2000 could be better, but i havent tryed it yet.

I use XP Professional on my desktop computer, and i use 2000Professional on my laptop. I love XP only after i have set it up the way i want (takes time). But i like 2000 cuz it's basic and doesn't have as many problems as XP. I say the only way to tell...is to try them both for yourself. If i had to pic i'd go with XP Pro, cuz it's the latest and most supported.

Honestly though It's best just to try both OS's rather then ask others as everyone likes diff. stuff withing an operating system.

I think winNT came out before windows 95 and 98. its really old but they have had a couple updates

Ya It may have but I dunno . but I was just mentioning the OS's pertaining to this post or obviously would have mentioned 95,98 .

Both 2K and XP run FAT32 and NTFS

WinNT has a whole bunch of versions, namely 1,2 3 and 4.

If you have the choice and are up for it ... try W2K3

I've had Me then 2000 pro now XP pro. ME is the devil. I loved 2000 pro and now I like xp pro a little better. If the choice was between xp home and 2000 pro I'd take 2000 pro.

i've decided to flatten my laptop and put XP Pro on it. i got a copy from m dad, so i'm gonna go ahead and do that this weekend i hope. as long as it doesn't lag i'll be happy lol. need RAM upgrade and i'll be set.
