Which OS should i get?

hey i'm building my first computer and I game a lot and i'm wondering what os I should get, at least one that is cheap
 
If your a big gamer, I would recommend Windows Vista. Linux is a nice OS, but doesn't support alot of games. What are the specs of the computer that your building.
