which processor to get?

hey

im gonna build my first computer next month but whats keeping me from building is which processor to get with it im gonna use the pc for gaming i want to run bf2 on maximum settings and run all new games specially flight simulater x the best processor i found till now is the amd athlon 64 x2 6000+ and if there is a better processor in the same price range please let me know

But if you have a motherboard that only supports AMD, then I would go for the 6000+, but if you have some extra cash left, I would go for the 6400+ =)

amd x6000 price is not same as 6550 price and x6000 performs better with games than E6550. My brother has E6600 and I have X6000+, and x2 6000+ is on par with E6600, if not better at stock speed. Overlclocking is no need.
 
6000 is on par with the 6600, however the e6600 has the overclocking abilities. If you get the amd, the 5200, 5600, 6000, and 6400 are the same chips with different multipliers so that they have higher stock clocks. I just oc'ed mine to teh 6400 :P. But if you need to buy a motherboard and want to into overclocking you can get the E6550 or E6750 and oc the mess out of it lol..
 
I have the 5600 like ThatGuy16, and with a 8600GTS and 2GB DDR2 800 it runs BF2 full settings very well.
 
Q6600!!! futureproof! a lot of games and applications are going to be coded specifically for quadcores, crysis being one of them! save up an extra $100 dollars for it, the q6600 will still be relevant 3 or 4 years from now
