Ill try to keep this simple
ive rad alot of trheads on the topic and ive determined that my corsair value is holding me back

i have a 3.0 prescott that i ahve been able to get to 3.6 which is 240 X15

but my ram wont go over 166mhz whn i do that

the highest i can get the ram to is 210mhz

I want 2 1gb sticks i can run at 240+mhz

that are compatible with asus p4p800se

my board is compatible withb 3200 but can i run say a DDR600 stick in it?
i realize itll just underclock the ram but im fine with that because i intend to OC it and id like to make sure the ram is stable

In the future i want to switch over to AMD skt939 so the ram should also be compatible with that if possible

Id like it to be under 300$

any input would be appreciated

go with ocz.
that where im going.
if you dont know your mobo specs go to newegg and find it.
then find the info on RAM.
it will say like...

ddr 400 pc "3200"

you need ddr400 ram
then look at the nice high bandwidth ram
geil, kingston, or OCz

or post you mobo specs and ill try to find one, or someone else will

try that?

it should match your specs

give me a link to the mobo you have and the one you want

edit:
also make sure the RAM matches the MOBO pins. it will probely be 184 pin

but if the old mobo has different pins than the new one you want, you wont be able to switch the sticks cause they wont fit.

edit 2:

this is an example of what will fit together....

look at the mobo first, scroll down to
Number of DDR Slots 4x 184pin DDR
DDR Standard DDR 400 (PC 3200)

see it?
mobo

now look a tthe ram.

184-Pin DDR SDRAM

Speed DDR 400 (PC 3200)

ram

matches!

my mobo is 184 pin ddr

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131484

I havent pickedo ne witha 939 skt yet but i have to think most are probably 184pin ddr

my mobo is 3200 compatible

am i better off buying the 3200 ram and OCing it or buying 5000 ram and running at rated speeds?

how can i find out if the 5000 will be compatible?

the ram must be 2x 1gb for a total of 2 gb

and also must be able to run at a minimum of 250bus

sure u want the whole two gigs will u need it? if you are heavily gaming i suppose it would be worth it

do you have value ram cards? like corsair value?
those care kinda cheap and will give you those type of probelms.
if you get high bandwidth ram of one gig you wont have the problem because you can oc it and it wont do harm becuase that is what it is supposed to do.

go for that stuff and oc it a lil bit.

if you plan on gaming, dont get value cards because they dont oc well at all
