Which socket for conroe cpu

Neither. Why would Intel use AMD sockets(did I miss something)? I think it's going to be LGA775, but that doesn't mean any mobo with that socket will be compatible with the Conroe.

Great choice. Iv seen some of the test the Conroe has run and i must say it is the most impressive thing iv seen. Intel is turning around, just might leave AMD in the dust.

Well no, but thats pretty impressive also. I was talkin more about the Pi test iv seen, wasnt it around 20 secs for the 1m? My northwood takes 45secs........

depending on what games become multi-threaded and what ones dont AMD still might be the way to go.
im waiting to see results of AMD's new anti-hyperthreading that they integrated into socket AM2.

Are you sure they did integrate it? As far as I know it's just a rumor.

well... if it works out then im pretty sure AM2 socket dual cores will be compatible. it seems to be all rumors so far, just like anything else. there was an article in the inquirer about it.

The 975 chipsets support it.
And 965. :)

But remember, only the newer 965/975 chipsets support it, since the older ones arn't compatible with the Conroe's lower voltages.

I know older D975XBX (Intel Branded) boards can be made to support it by adding some components, weather this is possible with other brands I don't know.
