Which one's better the:

Quad NVIDIA PCI Express x16 high-performance graphics
4 x 512MB GDDR3 dedicated video memory
Quad DVI and S-Video outputs with quad-display support*
Full DirectX® 9.0 and OpenGL® 2.0 graphics compatibility
NVIDIA® SLI-Enabled

or

Dual NVIDIA® PCI Express x16 high-performance graphics
Up to 2 x 512MB GDDR3 dedicated video memory*
DVI, VGA, and S-Video outputs with dual-display support
Dual DVI and S-Video outputs with dual-display support*
Full DirectX® 9.0 and OpenGL® 2.0 graphics compatibility
NVIDIA® SLI-Enabled*

what are the downs and ups in each? Thanks

that confused kinda of alot hahaha

Ok i'll make my question more clearer, Im trying to buy an ALX from alienware.. ethier the quad sli or regular 7900 GTX Dual ALX.. which one is better? the quad cost more, but i dont even know if the quad is GTX, it does say GPU.

I'd say don't go with the quad, to me it just doesn't make sense. Hell, going with SLI in general doesn't make sense to me, it's cheaper and better performing to buy 1 of the next generations cards then to get 2 of the current generations cards.

Don't get the Quad SLi, there has been alot of trouble when using it. Certain games didn't start, certain games were performing worse than the usual SLi even on low settings.

hmm what cards are they though?
i'd say just get regular SLI tho, quad seems overpriced and overrated.

yea, but 2 next generation cards in SLI ;) lol
dual 7900gtx's would be to die for! not really but you get the point.

sorry if it confused you... i was just trying to say that quad cards are too much and not cost effective... they won't last long with always evolving technology...

Praetor made it clear (if you read the article) that one current generation card will be better and more cost effective than 2 or more cards... most people who want 2 or more video cards need the power and already have what they want picked out... i was trying to say that unless you really need them... don't get them... even for gaming, one of the top-end cards will suffice... atleast for now, then you can always upgrade later on...

you have to realize that the:
cost of those cards + the fact that before you buy them, they are out of date = waste of money...
i guess if it's worth it to you to buy 4X the outdated material, go for it...

for simplicity's sake... what are you using the computer for? if you tell us we can recommend a cheaper setup i'm sure...

(by the way - i deleted my first post because i believe it wasn't needed anymore...)

Your question is kind of a no-brainer... "whats better, 4 GPU's or 2?"

As others have said, the Quad SLI is more of a waste, and has problems at times.
