Which video card should I choose?

I am looking at the GeForce GTX 980 or the Radeon R9 390x. Which would you choose and what manufacturer? I have always trusted XFX with my video cards, but wanted to know if anyone had any other suggestions.
 
Asus for Nvidia, Sapphire for AMD

But for the most part, 390x is better then the 980
 
Personally I'm not loyal to any company, I go for whoever gives the best and longest warranty, the length and terms of warranties should be available on the manufacturers website, remembering you can also get warranties from the place of purchase. Also the EU has a two year legal guarantee on all new products, so no matter who you buy from you are covered for a least two years, I don't know about other countries, but its something worth looking into.

Yeah but the final branded ATI cards were the HD 5000 series, still they were from 2009. ;)

You can see a direct comparison between the R9 390X and the GTX 980 here: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1559?vs=1442 they're pretty evenly-matched. Sometimes the Radeon is faster, sometimes the GeForce is faster. It depends what you play and at which resolution I guess. If the 390X is cheaper than the 980 I'd probably take the 390X.

As for brands as said above it doesn't matter too much. I've always bought Sapphire when buying Radeons and at the moment I have an MSI TwinFrozr IV GTX 760. Sapphire, MSI, ASUS, EVGA, HIS, Gigabyte and XFX are all good brands for graphics cards. Some, like MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte produce both Radeons and GeForces, some, like EVGA, only do GeForces and some, like Sapphire, HIS and XFX, only do Radeons. Again, the brand you choose usually depends on the price of the card (who has the best deal) and sometimes who has the cooling you want. I've always like the TwinFrozr coolers from MSI and when I was buying my GTX 760 MSI were the cheapest brand, so I went with MSI. My advice would be to shop around and see which brands offer the cooling and price you want.
