Which Video Card?

I am looking to buy my first graphics card. I currently only have an on board graphics chip and have a computer with the following specs:

Core 2 CPU 4300 @ 1800 GHz
2 GB RAM
305w PSU
22" Widescreen
Vista Home Premium

What is the best card I can run on this power supply and that is inside my budget of around £60?

I have been looking at the Point Of View 7600GT 256mb, is this the best card for the money or is there something else out there which would be better? Would this card play the latest games? Any help greatly appreciated! Cheers

shoul not do to bad i have a temparary 7300GS an that plays everythink just the new games like crysis i have to play on low/med C&C3 low/med STALKER low
so it should not do to bad as it is about 400% better than the 7300GS

7300GS  that is not going to run Crysis, unless you put it on a resolution of like 640x480, and even then it will be laggy at places. If you want to game, you really need to spend the cash. I have an 8800GTS (g92) and at my native resolution 1920x1200 with eveythig overclocked, Crysis still gets abit choppy at places on High.

The 7600 is still a great card for the price, not for intense gamers of course. It will let you for example run Vista Aero theme with no problems and will let you play most games at med-high settings with only newest games being the main problem.

well it does on low/med @800x600 but it does not matter because i am getting the 3870 which will play it on high @1280x960 smoothly

So am I best going for the 7600GT then or are there any others out there I should be looking at. Obviously I cannot look at a higher quality card as I do not want to change my PSU at the moment....

Is the 3870 a much more expensive card, will it need an upgraded PSU? Are there any cheap cards out there that would do the job and provide a high def connection?

Is this better for about the same price?

the 3870 yes it is a lot more money in AUS $$$ the 7600 is $109 an the 3870 is $299.
an i just went an had a look at power recommendations by vid card an your 309W PSU will not power the 7600 350W min so i think u must upgrade your PSU b4 u get a better GPU u should get a 450W the 3870 is a min of 550W PSU

i think your power supply is too low, even for a 7600. i would spend the cash on the psu first, then buy the video card.

A 300W power supply would be mroe than enough for a 7600GT, that card is best for people on a budget. I not sure if the 8600GT is that much better, if you are really tight monetary-wise then getting the 7600GT would be your best bet.

Yeah, but what's recommended is usually a bit over whats actually required. Case in point, I actually ran my 7600gt on a 200w, +12v@10 amp, for two weeks. It worked like a charm in that period, of course I wouldn't recommend using such a setup, tis like tempting fate. But it worked, so as long as this 305w PSU had a relatively respectable +12v ampere rating, there shouldn't be any problems in the long run.
