Which web languages should I learn?

Hi there,

I'm want to learn web-design to the best of my ability but am puzzled on what I need to learn. I currently know html pretty well and am moving onto xhtml transitional and css. However, are there any other web-languages that I should be learning that would be useful in the future or that would help create better websites? I also know a fair bit of javascript.

Also, if you can recommend any books / guides that help with elements of web-designs, languages or certain techniques, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

you know the base of the web languages such as html, css and javascript...
with this 3 languages you can already do many well thing..
but if you want to do dinamic page, you have to learn asp or php...
asp i think is more professional but it's more difficult to find free asp spaces in the web..

for the graphics of the website you can learnt something of flash to embellish your pages

PHP is a good language to learn.

As Vetto89 said, ASP s more a professional language, and to find servers that allow ASP, you usually have to pay more.

If you have flash, actionscript is good to know because it sometimes cuts down on work and can do a number of more advanced things. It is based on ECMAScrip but has some similarities to javascipt

If you have Flash, use it! I love Flash! All my website are now flash based, the program is realllllly good!

Ugh, I hate pure flash sites myself!

As for languages, I think several have already been mentioned that you should learn, I dont want to bog you down with anymore.

:)

I think most go on to learn php after javascript. I got bored after a while of HTML, but i still love it.
