Which would you opt for?

I third the Phenom, but not for reasons previously stated. Performance difference is minimal, but the real important issue is that AM3 is a new socket that is going to have an upgrade path in the future, LGA 775 is an entirely dead socket and is no longer supported, meaning a new mobo down the road when you want a new processor. AMD for sure.

AMD for sure. AMD is known for better overclocking. But that's just me...

Um, Core 2 chips overclock pretty decently too, I pushed my Q9550 to 4GHz on air :P

The 65NM Phenoms didnt overclock that decently I heard, but I dont really know about the 45NM Phenoms

Lol, was that 4GHz on liquid nitrogen or air/water? And yeah, AMD went on about the overclocking potential of Phenom II if I recall
