well i put some old broke computers together for my little sister her computer isnt any thing special its running an lintel celeron i had my bower box hooked up to it first and it worked fine then once my mobo came i needed it back so i hooked a old 80w power suply up to it it worked for the first boot up but then the second a puff of white smoke came out so i just thought it was a faulty power box so i got another power box but this time 85w and it did the same thing so im thinking it is cuz the powere boxes where too week to power it...am i right or what could be the problem

It's probably overheating. Start the pc with the case opened, and see where the smoke comes from. Make sure the fan(s) are working.
If it's the processor, get a faster fan.
If it's the motherboard... the pc is fried: you'll need a new one.

yeah lol most modern laptops use 70w-180w
desktops are like 300w+

havent seen a 80w PSU since the days of the original pentium...

unless it has a video card, 350w should be perfect.

its an optiplex?

dell optiplex PSUs are non standard, if you used an optiplex PSU on a normal pc, or a normal one on an optiplex, you probably fried the motherboard and psu.
