White Spot on LCD Screen

Hi there. I am hoping someone can help.

My laptop LCD screen has a white spot that is 1/4" square. If I put my cursor on it and drag, it will enlarge about 4 times. It is only visible when I am displaying the desktop. If I open a web browser (or any other program) to a dark page it is no longer visible. Changing the wallpaper has no effect.

Would anybody know what this is or how to get rid of it? TIA
