Who manufactures the most chipsets?

If your talking about desktop chipsets. My guess Intel then AMD. Nvidia and VIA are pretty much out of it anymore.

I would think intel does, just because a majority of the OEMs you see around are intel machines, and every intel board has an intel chipset these days. I think AMD would be a close second.

They used to have quite a lot of problems after the nForce 4. Some of the 6xx chips used to have an overclocking bug which corrupted data if you overclocked the hardware and the 6xx chips did not support the 45nm Core 2 Quads, only the 7xx chips did -but Intel's P35 chipset did, and they ran hotter than the Intel and AMD chipsets. Sometimes laptops used to have problems with NVIDIA's onboard graphics too, the GPUs used to fail, leaving you with a messed up picture on the screen.

Yes nforce4 are pain I could not get sound or internet going on a older board with the OEM cd and internet drivers, I eventually gave up and chucked it. Its was socket 939 and ddr ram so its pretty much junk to.
