Whos BIOS is it anyway?

Hi,

I was just wondering how do I find out which company make my BIOS? my board is an Asus A8N-E.

I need to follow up a beep code (a single beep I am getting) and depending on who makes the BIOS it could mean different things.

if im correct this board has integrated audio, if you hook up your speakers to the built in audio sockets there should be a report that tells you the problem, my old asus board had this feature

If you go into the BIOS there will be a title at the top of the screen, common BIOS manufacturers are AWARD and AMI and PHEONIX bios's

Hi again,

I followed up a link to the beep site you posted dragon and I can see an my beep type on there, my BIOS is a PHEONIX one and I only get one beep on boot, any ideas?

try taking the ram and the graphics card out and then reseating them and see if that sorts it

Hmmm, well pheonix is a major one, at least you dont have some strange one that nobody's ever heard of. Does the computer actually bootup then, because usually a BIOS will give one short beep when everything is OK, and then it will continue to boot.....?

aha, sounds right then, I dont have any problems so to speak and all the hardware is registered as it should be so its probably nothing to worrie about.

No problem, glad to help. In my BIOS there is an option to turn this beep off if you dont want it happening...
