why apple, why?

so i have this macbook, and it only as one audio port on it, for both in and out (you can switch it in the sys pref).

so, WHY? this means that i cannot plug in a stereo and use a mic at the same time. i either have to use the built in crap mic, or use a good mic and listen to the crap built in speakers.

WHY?

does anyone have a solution to this? maybe a cable?

Well maybe go USB? Apple did this because they wanted to put a SD card reader in their lower end models too but didn't have enough room because of the 10 hour battery size

thanks igeek. i'll just use a usb mic and use the 3.5 to plug in the stereo
