Why can't I perform parallel downloads?

Hi, I recently got a new computer running Windows 7 64 bit. I have used all the other windows operating systems and this is my first time using 7.

So I was planning to download some music and games on my new computer with firefox but this is where the problem started.
For some reason, this computer seems to prioritize the first download. What I mean is if I download 1 item, it is downloading at 300kb/s but if i begin to download something else, then my first download will be 280kb/s and my second download (parallel) will be downloading at around 20kbs.

This has never happened on my old computer when I do parallel download and the download speed for 1 item is 300kb/s and there are 2 items being downloaded, then the download speed for each item would be between 140kbs - 200kbs

Parallel downloads are really useful because i usually download a lot of things and i go out often so i just download everything and leave the house, once i get back, most should be done.


Another thing i noticed is when i use a game's downloader application to download the installation file for the game, it seems to have priority over everything else, even if it started its download a hour later.


PLEASE HELP this is really annoying D=

well your u=issue is very common. Firefox cant really divide the bandwidth properly b/w the parallel downloads. Try crome for this purpose.
Also, in torrent clients, there is an option to classify the speed for particular download. you can try that also.

I have never heard of the first thing. Although it could be true. Sorry I can't help to much. But you could glance in your settings and see if anything is weird there.
