Why can't my laptop run this?

I recently tried to play the ARMA2 demo, but my laptop could only run it on the low graphics setting. So, out of pure curiosity, what is holding my laptop back from running this game at normal settings?

HP Pavilion dv6
Intel Core i5 M 540 @ 2.53GHz
4gb DDR3 ram
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650. 1gb of vram

Either heat, or the video card, but the video card isn't too horrible
