Why do I have 3 of every folder in Win 10 Explorer?

I have 3 desktops, 3 documents, 3 photos etc. I had this once before years ago, but forgot how to fix it. I’m afraid to delete anything because I don’t know what will happen.
 
If you are talking about folders inside your user folder, it happens. It usually happens when you change the default location of each folder to a different drive than C drive.
 
Yes that's what I'm talking about, but I never changed anything so now I'm worried if something has done that without me knowing. I have Bitdefender keeping an eye on things so I hope it's not malware.

I had this happen about 10 years ago and made the mistake of deleting the duplicate folder and lost everything in the folder. For some reason it didn't go into my recycle bin, but luckily I did have a backup of most of the files and think I only lost the most recent at the time.

So this time I was very careful not to delete anything and just closed everything and shut the computer down and everything went back to normal
