Why does everyone want a RAPTOR?

They feature a spin speed of 10,000 RPM, as to the usual desktop hardrive being 7200 RPM.

This just means a faster data transfer rate.

What is RAID? I always see people talking about this stuff, there is a whole bunch of stuff I read and don't know what people are talking about. Is there a book of some sort that will teach me all these things? Like, I know how to build computers, reformat, get things working, change out fans, etc. I'm just not too good with software other than reformatting.

wikipedia & google...

I'm not being a smartass either---search for things you wanna learn about---or ask on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RAID is utilizing power/performance of 2 or more hard drives together...

Read up on it at wikipedia

Yeah, I do, sometimes, like before i get a pet a research a lot, but I just find a book a lot more convenient, and also I can't be on the computer late at night, so I could just read a book, or take it to school. But also, there are a lot of things to be covered and I don't know names of everything I want to know about, but a book would have chapters.

Well, not sure if there is 1 all-encompassing book but you could check and see if the 'For Dummies' series of books has a comp-building for dummies version?

Something like that would have a variety of everything I would imagine!

LOL, the only part I don't like about it is that in the airport if you're reading something with for dummies on it, people look at you like you're a fool. Lol, but I found out what raid is... kinda. It is when you get a bunch of smaller hard drives and put them in an array and then they are used as one drive and the failure time of it is multiplied by four, something like that right?

So I understand do you work in or frequent the airport alot? Enough so that even with the volume of daily traffic in any given airport---you are somehow singled out by someone that cares enough to mock a stranger for reading a book that's teaching them something..
