I have been plying Guild Wars for sometime. I have a good internet connection, Insightbb, and haev a network though my computer. With a good graphic card. But why does it lagg at time. Lets say I restart the computer, an when I start to play, its fine. but after I log off, and wait a couple hours, and I log back in, it laggs really bad. Im not downloading anything, Internet is fine, other online games arent lagging, no one is touching the other computer, and this happens all the time. Do i have to restart it everytime?

Its really annoying, and does anyone know why? I dont haev any extra programs running, just after 1 time playing it, it lagges really bad. Is there a way to like check how fast my internet is going? TO see if its ok?

Thanks alot, hope someoen can help me.:P

Post your computer specs and the temperatures if you know them, especially when you're actually playing the game. If your system can handle it it could be a heat or PSU problem. What are the ratings on your PSU?

Whats a PSU?

My comptuer spec, ill roughly go over them.

Windows XP
Emachine 2600+AMd athalon
512Ram, 80HDD
Radeon 9250 128mb

Power Supply Unit. It's a box at the back of your PC, delivers DC power to all of the components. It's a pretty critical and many times overlooked component. The ratings (we'll probably want to see the +12v box with a rating of some number of amps (a)) are on a sticker on the side of the PSU usually. If the PSU isn't delivering enough power then it could be causing lockups.

PSU= Power Supply Unit. You know, the thing that provides power to your computer. But we really need to know what you have. What kind of processor, RAM, Video card, etc.

My comptuer spec

Windows XP
Emachine 2600+AMd athalon
512Ram DDR
80HDD Ultra ATA
Radeon 9250 128mb

I see strange numbers/letters on the PSU...

EDIT--
Its a ISO Switching Power Supply. sayss model No.: ISO-400. I dont enderstand the rest...

DUST! OMGHAX!

anyways, that power supply should be enough for your system.
it might be that your videocard is not powerful enough to run it well.

power supply looks fine to me

i think lag is caused by the small amount of RAM, u play the game after u restart (your RAM is refreshed not full of junk), u exit the game and for example u browse internet, watch some videos, listen to music etc. and after couple of hours your RAM is all full with junk, restart your computer to clean your RAM and play again, it works for me, i dunno if u understand what i meant to say

a little tip from me, try cleaning the fans more often, usually the dust on fans causes high temperature of your components.

EDIT: video card is ok

GW Guild Wars Requirements

Required System Specs:
Windows XP/2000/ME/98
800 MHz Pentium III or equivalent
256 MB RAM
ATI Radeon 8500 or GeForce 3 or 4 MX with 32MB of video memory
500 MB hard drive space
Internet connection
DirectX 8.0

Recommended System Specs:
Windows XP/2000/ME/98
Pentium III 1GHz or equivalent
512 MB RAM
ATI Radeon 9000 or GeForce 4 Ti Series with 64MB of video memory
500 MB free hard drive space
Internet connection

I have the recommended specs. 512Ram, 128 Video Card, 500 hdd, internet. strange...

Honestly, you're computer isn't very good. The biggest problem is that it's an E-machines and that you're "good" video card isn't very good. I'm surprised you can play GW on that machine. And please, PLEASE clean out the dust. It hurts just to look at the dust on top of that poor AMD...

If you do clean out the dust I'm sure your CPU will run cooler and extend it's life just a little bit more.

no, the PC is fine, it should run GW without any probs, my friend has
  • intel celeron 2.4GHz (not sure which one)
  • 256MB ddr400
  • radeon 9200se
  • crap mobo (not sure which one)
he plays GTA san andreas with no probs on medium settings (1024*768)

@ Bboysoda- your comp satisfies the needs of this game, just restart the computer when u want to play GW and everthing should be fine

EDIT: 1GB of decent RAM costs under $90 US
