Why dont we get our own Counter-strike source server?

We Should get our own CS:S server! Then make a clan for it too, we could add a section on this forum for the clan or if mabye make a new site?... :P anyone agree with this idea?
 
I think a CF clan could be a good subject, then in the main area you have all the different games.

I wouldn't mind being in a RS: Vegas CF Clan, That'd be GREAT! :D

I think Archangel would be interested in that too!

like have a make section called CF CLAN then have all differnt Online games so we Have a CF clan in each game :)

i would be in a CS:S clan and would get vegas so i could be in that one too
but severs cost money and well we don't have that right ??
 
4NGU$ i know it cost's money but i forget how much a server cost. I am confused at this point because, you know when you open up steam and there is like My games,tools etc... If you click tools theres something called create dedicated server... And when yo udo that other people can join game so i am unsure if you need to buy it. Mabye someone on CF would come in and clearify this for us

You can have a stand-alone PC host the match, like when you host a LAN game, like that, or the computer acting as the server can have somebody play the game on it too, so I guess we'd be Ok there.

Yeah were ok there. We could just have someone biuld a cheap 500$ computer that could run a server or poissbly just use an old one that could run cs:S for ever lol...
 
who is paying for the hosting? Who will donate every month to pay for it? Who will have admin to it?

It won't work, someone will always not pay and others will be stuck covering the costs, it always happens that way.

we already clarrified that you dont need to pay for it. And second of all the person who creates the server gives someone admin its really not a problem..

well hosting isn't free, and you can't really host a server on a residential broadband connection. So the website would pay for it out of its revenue?
 
Tlarkin mabyte i am wrong but I believe i have hosted a CS:S server at my friends house before.. Go to steam, tools, create dedicated server... Check for yourself residetntial connection is good enough!

no you can host one out of your house, the problem is the bandwidth on residential connections has very limited upload speeds, and ISPs do this on purpose. No one would be able to connect over the internet because up the capped upload speed would slow the server down once a few people logged on.

It really is only playable if you pay for hosting that way you have more bandwidth, or upgrade your service from your ISP. Then you run into the problem of your ISP either charging you an arm and a leg, or telling you no they only do it for businesses.

You can easily host your own server, but the connections would be horrid and un playable unless you paid for hosting.
