Had a PC with Win 2000 on it. It kept rebooting.

Did a virus check, chkdsk, defrag etc....wasnt too bad...but still rebooted every once in a while.

Then i kept getting a Kernel missing error so i decided to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows 2000.

Now its telling me that it cant find certain files on the Windows 2000 disk...files like sonydam.sys...ntkrlnl.exe.......

i have tried 2 different Windows 2000 disks and each time im getting the repsonse that it cant find certain files (the files it cant find are different for each disk)...........

As a result the PC will not boot up any longer!

Anyone got any ideas :(

This may sound like such a bad thing to say but, try a 3 rd disk, or an xp disk, or an 98 disk and then upgrade using your 2000 disk.

Check the same disc a few times too ... are the files the same each time or is it different? If different have a check of your RAM using something like http://www.memtest86.com/

Hehe happened to me once when i built my XP2100 box ... set the RAM stuff in BIOS too aggressive (without knowing it) and kept getting some seriously fukt up errors during OS installation
