Why is the Q6700 so much more than the Q6600?

I went to the store today and the Q6600 was $219 and the Q6700 was over $400. Why is it twice as much? It's pretty much the same chip running at a few tenths quicker or is there something I'm missing? Anyhow I bought the Q6600....still happy as heck :D

I never did understand why the Q6700/E6700 was so much more expensive then the Q6600/E6600, when the only difference was clock speed. Where as the E6400 to the E6600 wasn't that much of a price difference, but also offered twice the cache.

Well it also has a higher multiplier, so it probably has slightly more overclocking potential. Not that that makes up for the $200 difference between the Q6600 and Q6700.

The 10X multiplier is the major difference. Debatable whether or not it's worth the money. Clubit has been selling it for $299 every Saturday this month...

The difference between the E6400 and E6600 is the multiplier also, but that price difference wasn't nearly as high.
