Why is this happening?

So, I finally got it working by taking off the side and using it on its side. I've had the cover off for a while now.

So after doing this for a week, I felt like I was ready to put the cover on and stand it upright.

I do this, and 5 minutes after boot, it shuts off. I try booting again, and it boots off (w/ the cover off, standing up) in 10 seconds.

I put it on it's side. Boots up and stays on.

What is up w/ this?

Yeah, I'm not sure how good or bad this is, but my GPU and 2nd Core are on FIRE!

That second core is running at 150 degrees Fahrenheit. That's not right, is it?

EDIT: Just saw your post. Yeah, there was a short problem that I thought I had fixed. The USB was bent I believe and actually caused a part of the motherboard to light a small flame, but this really looks like a heat issue to me. This has never happened before. What's wrong?

I would say definately a heat issue. or a bad sensor making the computer shut down. Take the heatsink off the processor and reapply thermal paste and make sure heatsink is tight against processor. I really don't like speedfan, but what processor are you running?

Now to make matters worse, I just took out the GFX card for cleaning, and forgot to take out the cord that connects it to the monitor, and the PCI-Express x16 yellow cover popped off and a few of the prongs at the end broke off. The motherboard has integrated gfx, can I use that for now? Can I just disable the PCI-E or will this prong bend short the system?

PS: I'm using this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103735

Good news is that I had a 2 year warranty on the mobo. Could I BS my way to try and get a new one for free?
